About me

In January 2012 I embarked on a get fit before I am forty campaign.  The drive to loose the excess weight (left over from having three kids) and get back to somewhere closer to a size 12 than a size 16 began by seeing me rise at ungodly hours to go to boot camp, get back into running, take part in lots of physical challenges including a spinathon (8 hours on a spin bike) and an epic adventure in 2013 when I took part in John O'Groats to Lands End Ride Across Britain.

In 2015, I began triathlon training, taking part in a couple of sprint triathlon's, an Olympic distance and finally a half iron man at the end of August.  I absolutely fell in love with triathlon and decided to take the plunge and train for Ironman Weymouth Sept 16.  Unfortunately, I fell off my bike and damaged my right leg so much so it moved my goal posts.   I was bitterly disappointed that I could not take part in IM and it also meant I spent most of 2016 not racing resigned to watching friends from the sidelines compete while I rehabbed my leg.

Happily 2017 was a better year.  I finally got my leg in a place where I could train again and managed to get fit enough to compete in Ironman Zurich in July.  An experience that was amazing and inspired me to restart writing my blog.

Throughout 2018 I updated my blog posts with columns that I wrote on a fortnightly basis for the Bath Chronicle which was my local paper.  These covered a few of my adventures including completing my second Ironman and an Ultra Marathon in 2018.

I have been absent from my blog for almost the whole of 2019.  This is due in part to shutting one business and setting up a new one - www.healthy-4life.com which is aimed at inspiring and helping others to start their fitness journey.  My blog on that site had taken over my priority, however, I am feeling like a return to my old friend Ready, Steady, Ride.  It is winter so its probably not the best time for me to restart my cycling themed posts but there are sure to be plenty triathlon training ones which may be of interest.  I have replicated some of the posts from my other site here to update a bit on 2019.

I hope you continue to enjoy my blog and please leave comments and thoughts on any of the subjects if you can.

Above all I hope I inspire you to get off the sofa and get active be that indoors or outdoors.

Linda xx
